Bio by Clara Ruf-Maldonado, 5th grade

Bradley Goodman is a mathematics coach and administrator at East Village Community School. He was born and raised in Long Island, New York. When Bradley was a kid, he wanted to become a jazz musician - a trumpet player. When Bradley is not at school he likes to play with his new baby, play guitar, and cook. Bradley went to college first at University Of Colorado in Boulder and studied anthropology, and then he went to Brooklyn College for two years to get his masters degree in education. Now Bradley is at Baruch College for his masters in school administration.

Before Bradley came to East Village Community School, he worked in Nepal, after that he worked at grant-making foundation for two years, and then he taught in Brooklyn for two years. Bradley wanted to work at East Village Community School because he liked that it was a small school, the community was an important aspect of the curriculum, and it was close to his home. Bradley believes children learn through doing hands-on activities, tasks that have authentic application in the real world, and build on student’s own interests. The hardest thing about Bradley’s job is that he has to plan so many different classes of different ages, and switch from one to the other over the course of a day. He loves his students. Bradley loves that they are genuinely excited about their learning, and being a part of the community. In the future Bradley hopes that each and every student experiences success, however they choose to define it for themselves.
